The story began before us. A seed in the ground, a once towering canopy, before life as an ambassador’s sailing chest or as the interior cupboard of a country doctor. We scout for only the finest hardwood, antiqued or freshly hewn, often mixing the two. Our drive? Reshaping texture to meet your needs, cultivating an expression of space and movement in a stationary work of functional, fine art. The story will continue beyond us.

Inspired Furniture

Mosart presents individual titled works of art that employ many traditional decoration techniques including gilding, carving, inlaying, and mosaic work. The furniture often incorporates “old stock” exotic and domestic wood and wood from naturally downed trees in its production.

Drawing inspiration from fine art movements and artists of the late 19th and 20th centuries including “Abstract Expressionism”, “Abstract Illusionism” Cubism, Constructivism, and Neo-Plasticism, we are known for essentially “painting with wood.”

The juxtaposition of elements, the color, variance in grain, and the refractive qualities of the wood are used as an artist uses paint from his pallet or sculptural elements to create a piece for functional fine art.

Mosart’s designs and material usage strives to combine the forms, decorative treatments, and hand joinery utilized by the great craftsman of the past with the LEED Building and Green Practices of the 21st century.
